Since the Holy Rosary is composed, principally and in substance, of the prayer of Christ and the Angelic Salutation, that is, the Our Father and the Hail Mary, it was without a doubt the first prayer and the principal devotion of the faithful and has been in use all through the centuries, from the time of the apostles and disciples down to the present.
Our mission is to inspire, with passion, all Catholics, men and women, young and old, to join in the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary and pray the Blessed Mothers' Holy Rosary in its' entirety the way Mary herself taught Saint Dominic of Caleruega, founder of the Dominican Order, patron saint of astronomers, the 15 decades and the 15 Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious mysteries of her Holy Rosary.
What makes Catholic membership unique with the Sons of Mary Fraternity? Members of the Sons of Mary pray the traditional mysteries with the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary and pray the Luminous mysteries of light added by Pope John Paul II in 2002 by his historic apostolic letter to the faithful ROSARIUM VIRGINIS MARIAE as well. In total Sons of Mary members pray ALL 20 decades and 20 mysteries in their Holy Rosary Service giving glory and honor to Christ Jesus and the Blessed Mother Mary.
Written by Saint Louis de Montfort, a french roman catholic priest who departed in 1716. The English translation of the book bears the imprimatur of Archbishop Thomas E. Molloy of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn.
Highly readable and unassuming on the surface, it's based on a well structured "multi-perspective" analysis of the Rosary. The fifty three sections are intricately connected and clearly thought out. Hence the term "Secret" is quite becoming, for the book reveals these interconnections in terms of a coherent theme. But the typical reader need not be concerned with the analysis because the flow of the text is natural, pure and pious, and appeals to laymen as well as priests. This book has been read by Catholics worldwide for over two centuries and continues to be a great spiritual resource. - WikipediA
The Holy Rosary is made up of two things: mental prayer and vocal prayer. In the Holy Rosary mental prayer is none other than the meditation of the chief mysteries of the life, death and glory of Jesus Christ and his Blessed Mother. Vocal prayers consists of saying fifteen decades of the Hail Mary, each decade headed by an Our Father, while at the same time meditating on and contemplating the fifteen principal virtues which Jesus and Mary practiced in the fifteen mysteries of the Holy Rosary.
Our goal is first and foremost to bring glory and honor to our Lord Jesus Christ and his Blessed Mother the Virgin Mary by inspiring more Catholics to embrace the blessings of praying the Blessed Mothers' Holy Rosary. At the same time we would like to create a book so large with the names or aliases of Catholics from around the world, that we can track the progress of the amount of people praying the Holy Rosary to Jesus and Mary on a daily basis.
Confraternity of the Holy Rosary simply means members agree to pray the Holy Rosary in its entirety as the Blessed Virgin Mother taught Saint Dominic in 1214 as a means of converting sinners to Catholicism. An entire Holy Rosary consist of 15 decades of 150 Hail Mary's while meditating on the 15 Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious mysteries and the virtues of the life, death, passion and glory of Jesus and Mary.
None of these oblige under pain of sin. It is not even a venial sin to fail in this duty because such an undertaking is entirely voluntary and supererogatory. Needless to say, people should not join the Confraternity if they do not intend to fulfill their obligation by saying the Holy Rosary as often as is required, without however, neglecting the duties of their state in life.
So whenever the Holy Rosary clashes with a duty of life, Holy as the Holy Rosary is, one must give preference to the duty to be performed. Similarly, sick people are not obliged to pray the whole Holy Rosary or even part of it if the effort might tire them and make them worse.
If you have been unable to pray it because of some duty required, by obedience or because you genuinely forgot, or because of some urgent necessity, you have not committed even a venial sin. You will receive the benefits of the Confraternity of the most Holy Rosary the same, sharing in the graces and merits of your brothers and sisters in the Holy Rosary, who are saying it throughout the world.
And, my dear Catholic people, even if you fail to pray your Holy Rosary out of sheer carelessness or laziness, as long as you do not have any formal contempt for it, you do not sin, but you forfeit your participation in the prayers, good works and merits of the Confraternity. Moreover, because you have not been faithful in things that are little and of supererogation, almost without knowing it you may fall into the habit of neglecting big things, such as those duties which bind under pain of sin; for "He that scorns small things shall fall little by little."
Commit to praying the Holy Rosary in its entirety which comprises the 15 decades (150 Hail Mary's) and the 15 mysteries (Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious) along with members of the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary. Pick a level of membership, email us your information below, and we will add your name to The Sons of Mary Book of The Confraternity of the Holy Rosary.
The Luminous mysteries proposed and recommended by Saint John Paul II are neither obligatory nor essential requirement to reap the spiritual benefits of the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary. But as brothers and sisters in the Fraternal Order of the Sons of Mary we choose to pray all 20 decades (200 Hail Mary's) and 20 mysteries (Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious and Luminous) in their entirety for the glory and honor of Christ Jesus and the Blessed Mother Mary.
